Synopsis:
In this highly inventive take on the classic story, the focus of the film lies with Passepartout (Chan) who is trying to make it to China in order to restore a sacred object that has been stolen from his village. He finds an ally in Phileas Fogg (Coogan,) who has just put his reputation and career as an inventor on the line in a daring bet to make it around the world in eighty days.
Opposing both men is Lord Kelvin (Broadbent,) head of the Royal Academy of Science, who stands to lose his power and fortune should Passepartout and Fogg succeed, and he’ll do anything to stop them. Joining them is Monique de Grave (Cecile de France), a beautiful young French artist, who decides the trip might be a cure for her lost inspiration. After convincing them to take her along for the ride, she not only finds her artistic spirit, but also falls in love with uptight scientist Fogg.
Throughout their adventure, the group runs into an eclectic assortment of characters, encountering excitement, danger, love and laughter as they race across the globe in an attempt to beat the clock.
